Two people received major injuries in a crash involving three vehicles Monday afternoon in the Beachwood area, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The crash was reported at 4:40 p.m. on Santa Fe Drive, west of Franklin Road, according to officer Jason Schoonhoven, CHP spokesperson.

Richard Faulkner, 55, of Winton was driving a 1994 Infiniti east on Santa Fe. Elizabeth Terry, 45, of Merced was driving a 1999 Toyota on Santa Fe, also heading east, in the other lane.

The third vehicle, a 1989 Chevy driven by Chalo Rodriguez, 54, of Winton, was stopped on northbound Franklin Road at Santa Fe Drive.

For unknown reasons, the driver of the Infiniti allowed his car to veer to the right. The right front side of the Infiniti struck the left rear of the Toyota, according to the CHP.

The Toyota spun out of control and struck the left side of Rodriguez's Chevy. The driver of the Infiniti also lost control of his vehicle, crashing into the left side of the Chevy, the CHP said.

Terry and her passenger, 15-year-old Chase Terry, were flown to a Modesto hospital with major injuries, the CHP reported. Rodriguez was taken to Mercy Medical Center Merced with moderate injuries. Faulkner wasn't hurt.

Alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
