MERCED — Merced County officials reminded residents on Wednesday about two upcoming furlough closures affecting county offices around Easter weekend this year.
The county's administration offices will be closed on Friday and Monday, according to labor agreements approved by the Board of Supervisors on Nov. 22, 2011.
The offices will reopen and resume regular business hours on Tuesday, county officials said.
The implemented furloughs affect non-critical county functions over a two-year period, they said. The furloughs are one of several steps the county is taking to address budget shortfalls.
Critical and mandated services such as public safety and social services programs will remain open during the periodic furloughs, officials said.
The county Fire and Sheriff's departments will run normal operations on both days.
The county's animal control offices will be closed Friday and Monday.
The county's adult probation department and new Trident Center will be open during normal hours on Friday, but will close on Monday.
The Mental Health Department will continue its normal 24-hour operation.
