UC Merced is offering kids Dinner With a Scientist today

March 27, 2013

— More than 150 sixth- through eighth-grade students will have a chance to interact today with scientists from a variety of fields of study over dinner in a professional environment.

The Merced County Office of Education, in conjunction with the UC Merced, will host the seventh annual Dinner With a Scientist.

Crime scene investigator Donna Lee Hartman from the Merced Police Department and Adrienne Castro with Conservation Education at the Fresno Chaffee Zoo will give demonstrations.

Each dinner table is assigned at least one scientist representing local organizations, such as California Fish and Game, Grasslands Educational Center, Foster Farms and Merced College.

Students will visit three tables during the dinner and dessert portion of the event to ensure they are exposed to a range of scientific fields.
