Just how brazen can local government be? Just come to Atwater and find out. People are no different than anywhere else in California. They have mortgages to be paid -- that's if they haven't lost their home already -- record high gas prices, layoffs to be dealt with, and increased costs on just about everything.
But none of the above costs have ever increased 62.7 percent at one time.
Now, with mismanagement under their belt, three Atwater council members decided they could get away with raising garbage rate fees a full 62.7 percent and that will double over the next five years.
Hard-working families need to know who these people are, so come election time, they can hold them accountable.
So, Mayor Joan Faul and Council members Craig Mooneyham and Larry Bergman, come forward and explain, why you have so little regard for the very people who elected you.
