LIVINGSTON -- A ruptured gas line led to the evacuation of some residents Tuesday as workers tried to repair the leak near F Street and Hammatt Avenue.

A call came into the Livingston Police Department about 10:45 a.m. about a homeowner who cracked a 3-inch Pacific Gas & Electric Co. gas line with excavating equipment while working on his sewer system, according to police.

Six people in the house at the site of the leak were evacuated and traffic was shut down on F Street between Hammatt and Dwight Way, police said.

No injuries or major damage were reported.

The gas was shut off by PG&E about 11:30 a.m. and the roads were reopened, according to police.
