TOM WILLIAMS: Could Merced be another Stockton?

One out of three working age adults in Stockton either works for the government or is on food stamps. No wonder they filed bankruptcy.

How many Mercedians work for a governmental or quasi-governmental (nonprofit organization funded by government grants) agency or are on some form of welfare, I wonder?
