Atwater confrontation leads to shots fired

April 10, 2013

— A confrontation between two groups of people Wednesday led to shots being fired at Determine Drive and Bellevue Road, Atwater police reported.

Officers received the call around 2 p.m., and arrived to find a running car that had bullet holes in it, said Lt. Sam Joseph. The front doors of the car had been left open, he added.

The two victims, one of whom was driving, told officers that two or three Latino men confronted them as they were going down Determine Drive.

After an altercation, the victims said one of the men pulled out a gun and began firing.

The victims, who were unharmed, fled from the car, Joseph said.

There were no reports of any other injuries and no suspects were in custody.
