For instance, an article highlighting local restaurants and businesses that are thriving during this troubled economic time. This would encourage new businesses and show a strong sense of community.

I am not asking for the Merced Sun-Star to refrain from publishing the "ugly" truth, but to give Merced residents a glimpse of hope.
