Around Town: 71st Old Timers lunch

The Old Timers of Merced County will honor county pioneers at the 71st annual Old Timers Reunion- Luncheon on Sunday at the Italo-American Lodge. Those honored are at least 85 years of age and have lived in Merced County for at least 50 years. They will receive a free lunch and be presented with certificates and proclamations from various officials and political representatives, including the Merced County Board of Supervisors. GOP women to meet

The Merced County Republican Women will hold their monthly luncheon at noon Monday at the Branding Iron Restaurant with guest speaker John Sweigard. Tickets are $17 per person, and reservations are required by today. Call (209) 358-0532.

Camp fund-raiser

Peggy Heller School's sixth-grade class will host a fund-raiser from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. on April 20 in the parking lot, 201 Lakeview Drive. Cost will be $10 per plate for pulled pork on a roll, beans and coleslaw from Uncle Buck's.

Annual enchilada sale

Club Mercedes will host its annual enchilada sale from 2 to 5 p.m. on April 20 at the club, Ninth and M streets. Ground beef enchiladas are $13 a dozen, with beans and rice available for an extra $5 per container. Take-out orders only. Sales will be limited, so advance tickets are requested. Calling Vietnam vets

The local chapter of the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 0691, is seeking new members. To qualify you must have served "in country" during the Vietnam War era. For more information, call (209) 381-0451 or go to 450 W. 21st St., Merced.

Students praising God

The God Represented In People's Spirit student club will present junior high, high school and college students praising God in workshops, skits, dance performances and song at 10:30 a.m. on April 20 at the Weaver Middle School gym, 3076 E. Childs Ave. All ages are welcome to attend.
