Time extended for Merced River plan comments

April 17, 2013

Yosemite National Park has extended the public comment period for the Merced Wild and Scenic River Draft Comprehensive Management and Environmental Impact Statement, or MRP, through April 30. It was set to close today.

"The MRP is an expansive document which guides park management actions for many years. We want to make sure the public has a thorough opportunity to review the draft plan and submit comments," said Kathleen Morse, Yosemite's chief of planning.

The document was released for public review and comment on Jan. 8. So far, the park has received about 25,000 comments.

For a copy of the plan and a description of all alternatives, visit the park's website at http://is.gd/jwGCm0. Comments on the MRP can be made through the Public Comment website at http://is.gd/oJ9786. Comments can be emailed to yose_planning@nps.gov or sent by mail to: Superintendent, Yosemite National Park, Attn: Merced River Plan, P.O. Box 577, Yosemite Valley 95389.

Merced Sun-Star is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news. Some of the comments may be reprinted elsewhere in the site or in the newspaper. We encourage lively, open debate on the issues of the day, and ask that you refrain from profanity, hate speech, personal comments and remarks that are off point. Thank you for taking the time to offer your thoughts.
