— A 22-year-old man suffered minor injuries Wednesday evening after being robbed near 18th and V streets, Merced police reported. The victim reported he was walking on V Street toward 18th Street when a car pulled up with four men inside, according to Lt. Bimley West.

The men got out of the car and demanded the victim given them his wallet. One of the men walked behind the victim and pulled his arms behind his back, while another man hit him in the face.

One of the robbers reached into the victim's sweatshirt pocket and removed cash, West said.

The victim had been carrying around $600, West said, because he'd been on his way to a business to purchase a money order. The victim was able to elbow one of the attackers and flee. The robbers then drove away with the victim's money.

Few details about the robbers were available. The victim reported they were two Latino men and two black men, all in their early 20s, with red bandanas partially covering their faces and wearing black-hooded sweatshirts.

Police are asking anyone with information about the robbery to call Sgt. Scott Skinner at (209) 385-4702 or the department's automated tipline at (209) 385-4725.

The public can send information via anonymous text messages to police department by dialing "TIP411" (847411) and including the word "Comvip" as the keyword in the text message.
