Man killed near Pilot Truck Stop in Chowchilla

Madera County sheriff's deputies are calling the death of an 18-year-old man Saturday night near the Pilot Truck Stop in Chowchilla a homicide.

The victim suffered a fatal gunshot wound during a party held on Avenue 18½ and Road 21 on Saturday night. His name is not being released, according to Erica Stuart, sheriff's spokes- woman.

Stuart said no further details are available about the death, which is the fifth homicide reported in Madera County this year.
