The Merced Garden Club will hold its annual Spring Garden Tour on May 8, and organizers say the tour will be blooming with unique and historical arrangements.
"There is a gorgeous historical tree at one of the homes on 28th Street," said Connie Brons, the club's recording secretary.
Seven private gardens will be open for tourgoers, including at Vista Ranch and Cellars on Highway 140, according to Brons.
One of the gardens will include raffle prizes and refreshments. There will be musicians and artists at a few gardens.
The annual event is a fund-raiser for the Merced Garden Club, a 56-member organization that has been around since the 1930s.
The proceeds from ticket sales will support scholarships for students interested in horticulture or gardening. Some of the money will be used for beautification projects.
For example, the club worked on the landscaping for the Merced Theatre's recent renovation. It also is planning to landscape parts of downtown Merced at no charge to the city, Brons said.
Tickets are $15 and include a map of the various gardens, all within Merced County.
The tour is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 8 and tickets can be purchased by calling (209) 722-8666 or at the following Merced florists: A Blooming Affair Floral and Gifts, Aloha Floral and Gifts, Merced Floral, Tioga Florist and Merced Gardens Nursery.
Vista Ranch and Cellars is offering lunch at an additional charge. For more information, call Ashley at (209) 722-8200.
