— Merced city officials announced plans this week for Cap and Town 2013, Merced's largest downtown outdoor celebration and block party.

The annual event celebrates all of Merced's graduates and honors the community's educational excellence, according to a city press release.

The event will be from 5 to 10 p.m. May 17 on Main Street, between M Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Way. It will feature food, music, exhibits, arts, crafts booths, fun for kids, and a car show.

City officials are still seeking food and craft vendors, along with exhibitors for the event. Applications and information can be found on www.cityofmerced.org or by calling (209) 385-6970.
