BMX Ride Nights at Veterans Park

ATWATER -- Free BMX Ride Nights will run through October from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on the first and third Monday of each month at Veterans Park. Ages 6 to 17 are invited and bikes and helmets are available at no charge. Sign up at the track.

World dance classes at Multicultural Arts Center

Search and rescue team to hold carne asada fundraiser

BALLICO -- The Merced County Sheriff's Search and Rescue Team will hold a carne asada takeout dinner from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday in the Ballico School Cafeteria, 11818 W. Castle Air Museum's strawberry waffle brunch

Merced Council to hold special budget sessions

The Merced City Council will hold special sessions to review the budget at 6 p.m. May 13, 14, 22 and 29 at Merced Civic Center, 678 W. 18th St. The May 13 session will cover police, fire and recreation departments, and the May 14 session will cover the other city departments. Bike to Work Week coming in two weeks

May 13-17 is Bike to Work Week, and countywide raffles will be offered in San Joaquin, Stanislaus and Merced counties to anyone who pledges to bike or walk to work at least one day during the week. Mature driver classes to be offered in Atwater
