Gunshots hit houses; no one injured

No injuries were reported after shots were reported this week in south Merced, police said Friday.

Police responded to a call of shots fired about 9:30 p.m. Thursday. While officers were responding, several more calls were received from residents, saying their homes had been struck by bullets, according to police.

Officers found that a residence in the 400 block of La Mesa Court, near Gerard Avenue, had been hit several times. Officers also discovered several shell casings in the front yard.

No one inside the home was injured, and no witnesses could be found, police said.

Police ask anyone with any information to call Sgt. Scott Skinner at (209) 385-6913 or (209) 385-4702, or the department's automated tip line at (209) 385-4725. Residents can send information via anonymous text message to police by dialing "TIP411" (847411) and including the word "Comvip" as the keyword in the text message.

Tips are kept confidential, and tipsters can remain anonymous.
