Two men and a 17-year-old male juvenile were arrested Saturday on charges including suspicion of illegally possessing a firearm and drugs, according to Merced police.
About 2 a.m., officers stopped a vehicle near 13th and N streets over an unsafe turn and speeding. As the driver started to pull over, the 17-year-old, sitting in the front passenger seat, jumped out and ran south on N Street, according to police.
As the juvenile ran, police said, he reached into the right side of his waistband. An officer tackled the teen and took him into custody without injury. The juvenile was in possession of a fully loaded Glock .40-caliber pistol, police said.
Other officers arrived and arrested the driver, Eric Beavers, 27, and another passenger, Michael Evans, 42, of Bakersfield. Police reported finding rock cocaine inside the car.
Evans was wanted in Bakersfield on a stolen vehicle warrant. Beavers and the juvenile are validated gang members.
