A 49-year-old man was arrested Saturday after a two-vehicle crash near Eighth and Q streets, Merced police reported.

Police said a female driver was traveling south on Q Street in a minivan when she failed to yield the right of way to a silver Dodge Neon traveling west on Eighth, driven by Anthony Ewing, 49.

Ewing broadsided the van, causing it to flip over. The driver of the minivan, her 11-year-old daughter and 1 month-old son suffered minor injuries.

Police determined that Ewing was intoxicated, and he was booked at the Merced County Jail on suspicion of felony DUI.

The three occupants of the minivan were taken by ambulance to Mercy Medical Center. Ewing submitted to a blood test during the investigation.
