One person was robbed at gunpoint Friday outside an apartment in the 300 block of R Street but regained his money, according to Merced police.
The incident was reported by the victim at 11:48 a.m. Officers arrived and met with the victim, who said he was standing outside his apartment when approached by an unknown gunman, police said.
Police say the robber demanded money from the victim. The victim said he handed the robber $20, but the robber wasn't satisfied and began grabbing at the victim's pockets.
The victim then grabbed the robber's gun and the two began fighting over it, and the victim yelled to his brother for help, police said. The victim's brother came to the scene, and the brothers were able to wrestle the gun away from the robber, police said.
The victim took his money back from the robber, who fled on foot. The robber was described by the victim as being a Latino male in his late teens to early 20s, 5 feet, 4 inches to 5 feet, 7 inches tall, weighing 140 pounds and was wearing dark clothing.
