Merced Garden Club to hold its annual Spring Garden Tour

Seven private gardens will be on display during the Merced Garden Club's annual Spring Garden Tour on Wednesday.

One of the gardens is that of Barry and Jeanne McAuley in Merced. Organizers say this home features a historic tree that was transplanted from a seedling in Merced. The McAuley home will have a raffle and musician.

Another Merced garden on the tour is that of Jared and Bunny Paskin, which will showcase fruits, vegetables and many unique plants. Metal artwork will be available for sale, and there will be an artist and live music.

The annual event is a fund-raiser for the Merced Garden Club, a 56-member organization that has been around since the 1930s. Proceeds from ticket sales support scholarships for students interested in horticulture or gardening.

Some of the money will be used for beautification projects, including landscaping in parts of downtown Merced.

Tickets are $15 and include a map of the gardens, all within Merced County.

The tour will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.. Tickets can be purchased by calling (209) 722-8666 or at the following Merced florists: A Blooming Affair Floral and Gifts, Aloha Floral and Gifts, Merced Floral, Tioga Florist and Merced Gardens Nursery.
