Shots fired at houses, police say

Merced police are investigating two reports of shots fired Wednesday evening and early Thursday morning.

No injuries were reported and no suspects are in custody.

The first incident was reported at 8:44 p.m. Wednesday in the 300 block of R Street. Officers arrived and located one house that had several bullet holes in the front door, according to Lt. Bimley West.

The other incident was reported at 12:55 a.m. Thursday. Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of West 23rd Street after several gunshots were heard by neighbors in the area.

Police found the front window of one home had been broken by a single bullet. Officers recovered the bullet and plan to send it to a crime lab for analysis.

It's unknown whether the two incidents are related.
