BMX Ride Nights

ATWATER — Free BMX Ride Nights run through October from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on the first and third Monday of each month at Veterans Park. Youths ages 6 to 17 are invited. Bikes and helmets are available at no charge.

Baseball game trips

The Big Valley Travel Club will host baseball game trips this year starting today and running through September. For more information, dates, times and prices, email dgriff@charter.net or call (209) 634-6804.

Church guest speaker

Merced First Assembly of God will host pastor Joey Steelman as guest speaker at 6 p.m. Sunday at 1350 Yosemite Park Way. Steelman has been traveling across the country since 1997, making presentations. This one is free and open to the public. Call (209) 383-6130.

Children's opera

An operatic retelling of the classic tale "The Ugly Duckling" will be performed for children in 10 private performances this month, culminating with a public performance May 24 at UC Merced. Suggested donations are $5 for adults and $3 for children. For more information, email musicstudio3@comcast.net.

Building Young Leaders

Building Young Leaders will host classes for children ages 5 to 16 starting June 10. Classes will include jewelry making, engineering, dance and more. Those who register before Monday get a 10 percent discount. For more information, go to www.buildingyoungleaders.com.

Last Hope Cat Kingdom

Last Hope Cat Kingdom is looking for volunteers for its Saturday and Sunday adoption events at PetSmart. Volunteers work with the shelter's cats and dogs as part an adoption effort for an hour or two on one day, to help find homes for these animals. Call (209) 357-5425.
