Police want to know how men were shot

May 21, 2013

— An investigation is continuing into the case of two men who showed up at Mercy Medical Center during the weekend with gunshot wounds, Merced police reported Monday.

Police learned of the incident at 2:10 a.m. Sunday.

An 18-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his hand had been brought to the hospital by a friend, who had a grazing wound to his foot, according to Lt. Bimley West.

Officer Ryan Rasmussen, who was at the hospital on an unrelated case, was alerted by hospital staff. Rasmussen spoke with the men, who were uncooperative.

The pair said they'd been shot in the area of Loughborough Drive, but refused to be more specific.

West said the department hadn't received any calls of shots fired in the Loughborough area that night.

Police ask anyone with information to call Sgt. Scott Skinner at (209) 385-4702 or use the department's automated tip line at (209) 385-4725.
