Pot found after homeowner calls police

May 28, 2013

— Police found hundreds of marijuana plants Thursday at a growing operation inside a rental house, authorities reported Friday.

Lt. Sam Joseph said the owner of the property in the 600 block of Hemlock Avenue called police Thursday because the locks on the house he was renting out had been changed, and the utility bill had gone up drastically.

The owner gave the officers permission to enter the home, police said. Inside they found about 220 marijuana plants of varying size and equipment used to grow them.

Joseph said authorities are seeing more and more of these "grow houses." He said narcotics task force officials were contacted and they took over the investigation.

No one has been arrested in connection with this case.
