Saturday is the deadline for Merced County Fair exhibits

May 31, 2013

— The Merced County Fair is just around the corner, and organizers are reminding all those planning on entering an exhibit to bring it to the fairgrounds by Saturday.

Entries will be accepted from noon to 7 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Exhibits should be brought to the fairgrounds at 900 Martin Luther King Jr. Way.

One of the fair's highlights is seeing exhibits of arts, crafts, handiwork and other hobbies. The exhibits are eligible to win red, white and blue ribbons, according to organizers.

Items will be accepted for a range of divisions that include crafts and hobbies, clothing and textiles, preserved foods, fine arts and photography.

The theme of the 122nd annual fair, which runs June 12-16, is "Thank You Veterans."

For more information, call the fair office at (209) 722-1507 or refer to exhibitors' handbook at

Copies of the booklets are available at the fair office at 900 Martin Luther King Jr. Way. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.
