Summer art classes

The Merced County Arts Council is offering summer classes at the Merced Multicultural Arts Center for children, teens and adults. There are many classes to choose from. For more information or a list of classes available, call (209) 388-1162 or email MCACArtists@gmail.com.

McNamara Pool party

The city of Merced with the Central Valley Red Cross will hold a pool party to celebrate the opening of McNamara Pool at 1 p.m. today. Swim lessons also will be available. Call (209) 385-6855.

Mel's Catfish Fry

PLANADA — Mel's Old West will hold Mel's Catfish Fry at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at 8721 E. Highway 140. Tickets are $30 for live music and dancing. Proceeds will benefit the Old and New Cemetery at Mount Calm Baptist Church of Simsboro.

Parkinson's group

The Parkinson's support group meeting will be at 10 a.m. June 20 at Mission Gardens, 1450 E. 27th St. The speakers will be Linda Walker and Brigid Ferrari. RSVP to (209) 384-3300.

Wellness seminar

The Merced Olive East Seventh-day Adventist Church will hold a wellness seminar at 6 p.m. June 26 at 2222 E. Olive Ave. Dr. Mayer will speak on metabolism, weight loss and a healthy lifestyle. RSVP to (209) 384-5870.

VFW post breakfast

ATWATER — Atwater Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9946 will celebrate America's birthday by serving breakfast at 7 a.m. July 4 at the VFW Hall, 1390 Broadway. Tickets are $5 and include sausage, biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs and bacon. The Atwater Fourth of July parade will start at 9 a.m.
