A wildfire that jumped Highway 41 south of Yosemite Lakes Park is expected to close the highway for several hours, fire officials said Monday.
Winds made the fire jump from the west side of Highway 41 to the east side between Road 200 and Highway 145 and drove it toward Fresno State's San Joaquin Experimental Range, said Cal Fire Battalion Chief Chris Christopherson.
He estimated the fire would be contained at about two acres. No injuries were reported.
The California Highway Patrol said the fire was reported about 1:30 p.m. The highway was closed due to smoke and fire, and is expected to remain closed for about two more hours, the CHP said about 3 p.m.
Drivers are advised to detour around the area and drive with caution.
