DOS PALOS — Dos Palos police are investigating a double shooting that occurred Tuesday afternoon, according to Chief Barry Mann.

Although details are scarce, Mann said it appears that two men in their 20s were injured.

The victims were dropped off in front of a residence in the 2100 block of Valeria Street, and later flown to hospitals outside of Merced County, police said.

One victim is in critical condition and the other is stable, Mann said.

Police believe the shooting did not occur inside Dos Palos city limits, and the victims were suffering from gunshot wounds when they were dropped off.

Mann said the victims were left by a woman driving a dark-colored Ford Taurus.

No weapon has been recovered, Mann said. The motive for the shooting is unknown and under investigation.

Officers remained on scene Tuesday night, speaking to witnesses in the area. Anyone with information is asked to call the Police Department at (209) 392-2177.
