Merced College customer service workshop to cover conflict resolution

June 24, 2013

— Keeping the customer happy is paramount in the business world.

Merced College and the Greater Merced Chamber of Commerce are partnering on professional development training to enhance customer service.

The college's Customer Service Academy is planning an August workshop on conflict resolution. Students will explore the causes and effects conflict can have on customer service and learn ways to resolve tough issues.

Conflict resolution workshops will be held Aug. 22 and Aug. 29 at the college's Business Resource Center, 630 W. 19th St. Sessions will run from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1 to 5 p.m.

Jonae Pistoresi, business and management professor, said feedback received from workshop participants is extremely positive; those attending say the workshops equip them with skills to better interact with co-workers and deliver better customer service.

Upcoming workshops will cover decision-making and problem-solving in September and managing organizational change in October. These workshops will be offered the last two Thursdays of the month with morning and afternoon sessions.

Cost is $23 per workshop and participants earn a half-unit of college credit. To sign up or to find out more information, call the college's Workplace Learning Resource Center at (209) 386-6733 or visit www. customerserviceacademy. org.
