MERCED — Three people were arrested by Merced police Saturday after a gang-related fight reported in the 3300 block of G Street, authorities said.
Police said officers responded to the La Hacienda 1 bar at 12:50 a.m. for a large fight in progress.
Witnesses told officers one man was on the ground and was being punched and kicked by three males. Officers arrived and found the victim unconscious on the ground, bleeding from the face and head, according to police.
The attackers yelled gang-related slurs as they kicked the victim in the head while he was on the ground, witnesses said.
Police obtained a description of the car in which the attackers fled, and spotted a vehicle matching the description about 10 minutes later in the 1200 block of Fig Avenue. The driver and two passengers were detained and identified as Angel Saenz, 26, Juan Orejel, 19, and Victor Sotelo, 20, of Merced.
The men were named as suspects after an investigation and were booked at the Merced County Jail on suspicion of aggravated assault with gang enhancements. Police said Saenz is a documented gang member and is on parole.
