SANTA NELLA — A restaurant in Santa Nella caught fire Thursday morning, causing about $150,000 in damage, a California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection official said.
The cause of the blaze is still under investigation. No one was hurt in the fire.
Cal Fire Capt. John Slate said his department responded to a fire at Antojitos Mexicano's restaurant at 12:30 a.m.
"The inside was going pretty good," Slate said of the fire, which started in the restaurant's kitchen.
Eight emergency vehicles responded to the fire, including five fire engines (some from departments in Los Banos and Gustine), a battalion unit and tenders.
The blaze was extinguished within 30 minutes of firefighters arriving. Slate said Cal Fire remained on the scene until 4 a.m. to make sure there were no hot spots left that could cause the fire to reignite.
