Marsha Bradford: Meter Maid distress

July 6, 2013

On June 25, at 2:21 pm, I had to run home, which is a residential home in the North Bear Creek area.

I parked my Cadillac in my driveway under a shade tree. Apparently I was covering part of the sidewalk and a Meter Maid wrote me a parking ticket for parking on the sidewalk.

First of all, I did not know that it was illegal in my own driveway. She also had to come onto my personal property to do so.

Sure I could see in commercial areas where that would be a problem — but in my own driveway? I am a law-abiding, tax-paying person and find it ridiculous that the city needs money so much they have to send Meter Maids to residential areas. Doesn't the city make enough money ripping off homeowners for water and garbage, which is at $107 per month? This is why people are leaving this city; pretty soon, the only people left will be politicians and homeless people. Then who will they ticket? Each other?
