DUI checkpoint results in a single citation

July 8, 2013

The Los Banos Police Department conducted a driving-under- the-influence and driver's license checkpoint on June 28 in the 1200 block of West I Street between 7 p.m. and 3 a.m.

Results from the checkpoint are as follows: There were 164 vehicles screened; one citation was given for operating a vehicle without a license or with a suspended or revoked license; no DUI arrests were made for drugs or alcohol; no arrests were made for possession, transportation or sales of illegal drugs.

The checkpoint was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

During the operation, officers contact drivers passing through the checkpoint and look for signs of alcohol and drug impairment. Officers also check to ensure that drivers are properly licensed.
