Police find man's body in Merced creek

July 16, 2013

— The body of a 56-year-old man was found during the weekend in Black Rascal Creek near R Street, Merced police reported Monday.

The man has been identified as Andrew Navarro, according to the Merced County coroner's office.

It appears foul play was not a factor in Navarro's death, according to Lt. Tom Trindad.

Police found Navarro's body after responding to the scene about 4:30 p.m. Sunday upon receiving reports from passers-by of a body in the creek.

Trindad said more details won't be known until an autopsy is completed by the coroner's office.
