A 42-year-old motorcyclist killed in a crash during the weekend has been identified as Jamie Chandler of Winton, the Merced County coroner's office reported Monday.

The crash was reported about 3 p.m. Sunday at Shaffer Road and Walnut Avenue, CHP spokesman Jason Schoonhoven said.

According to the CHP, Ajaypaul Saini, 27, of Livingston was driving a white 1999 Toyota 4Runner north on Shaffer, approaching Walnut.

Chandler was riding a yellow 2001 Honda CBR motorcycle south on Shaffer, approaching Walnut. Pardeep Takhar, 31, of Winton was stopped in a black 2013 Range Rover eastbound on Walnut at Shaffer.

As the Saini's Toyota and the motorcycle neared the intersection, the Toyota turned left — to head west on Walnut — into the path of Chandler's motorcycle, Schoonhoven said.

The front of the motorcycle hit the right side of the Toyota.

The impact caused the left side of the Toyota to hit the left front of the Range Rover, Schoonhoven said. Chandler sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the CHP.
