Man dies after Delhi area crash

August 5, 2013

— DELHI — A 69-year-old San Leandro man died after the sport utility vehicle he was riding in went off an overpass near Delhi on Thursday afternoon.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was riding in a 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Nick Salsedo, 50, of Delhi.

Salsedo got off Highway 99 southbound at Bradbury Road, and drove through the stop sign at the end of the offramp.

The SUV went across Bradbury Road and off the overpass, rolling and coming to a rest on its roof.

The accident was reported at 3:26 p.m. Salsedo was taken to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto by helicopter.

The passenger, whose name has not been released, was taken to Emanuel Medical Center, where he died.

The CHP is investigating the cause, but said alcohol appears to have been a factor in the accident.
