Gunshots damage car windows in Atwater

August 11, 2013

— Several people in the central part of the city reported having car windows damaged from gunshots Thursday morning, police reported.

Cpl. Bill Novetzke said no suspects are in custody. At least five residents in the area of Clinton, Grove and Fir avenues awakened Thursday morning to find out someone had shot the windows of their cars.

Novetzke said police believe the cars were randomly chosen. Police did receive one shots-fired call in that area about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, but officers found no one in the neighborhood.

Police are asking anyone with information about the case to call Detective David Brum at (209) 357-6394 or the department's automated tip line at (209) 357-6390. All tips are confidential, and callers can remain anonymous.
