Club offers travel trips

Big Valley Travel Club has many trips coming up. They are open to all:

• Escape to South Shore Lake Tahoe, Aug. 19-22, $195 per person, double occupancy; only eight spots on this trip.

• Gilbert & Sullivan's "Iolanthe" at the Bankhead Theater in Livermore, Aug. 25, 2 p.m., $85.

• "Chicago," the Bob Fosse musical, at the Sacramento Music Circus, Aug. 29, 2 p.m., $81.

• Guide Dogs for the Blind graduation, Oct. 19, $75.

Hein chapter meeting

ATWATER — The H. Wayne Hein Chapter of the National Association for Uniformed Services will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Veterans Hall at Fifth Avenue and Broadway Street. Jim Canabay will be the speaker. Call (209) 358-4834.

Concert benefits needy

MARIPOSA — United Methodist Church will hold a piano concert at 1 p.m. Saturday at the church, Sixth and Bullion streets. A suggested donation of $10 will help provide dinner and a safe place to sleep for Mariposa's neighbors in need.

Fund-raiser for soldiers

The Merced County Legal Professionals Association will hold its 30th annual fund-raiser from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Sept. 14 at DeAngelo's restaurant. Tickets are $25 per adult and $10 for children 8 and younger. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Wounded Warriors Project, and there will be a silent auction and raffle. Call (209) 617-3029.

Class of '78 reunion

VFW hall can be rented

ATWATER — The Atwater Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall is available for rent to the public for parties. It holds 150 people and has a full service kitchen. For more information, call (209) 358-7224.
