Attackers wanted in two Merced assaults that hurt two

— Merced police are seeking those responsible for two assaults over the weekend, officials said Tuesday.

The first assault happened about 10:50 p.m. Saturday in the 1800 block of West North Bear Creek Drive.

Officers responded to the area after reports of a fight and found a 19-year-old man who had been stabbed once in the right shoulder.

Police said the man refused to give any details about the fight and did not cooperate with officers.

The man was taken to Mercy Medical Center Merced for treatment of his injuries. He's expected to recover.

Police are asking anyone with information about the assault to call Sgt. Scott Skinner at (209) 385-4702.

The other assault occurred about 11 p.m. Sunday in the 2900 block of G Street.

A 29-year-old man was walking down the street when he was struck with an unknown object, police said.

The victim did not see his attacker, police said, and suffered minor injuries to his face and head. He was treated at Mercy Medical Center Merced.

The suspect has not been identified, police said.
