LIVINGSTON — The Livingston Recreation Department will hold its Fall Downtown Open Market on Main Street from 5 to 9 p.m. every Thursday, starting Sept. 5. Space is available for vendors who have proper permits. Call (209) 394-8830 or go to www.livingstoncity.com.

Habitat home dedication

Habitat for Humanity of Merced County will hold a house dedication at 10 a.m. Aug. 24 at 195 S. T St. The public is invited and light refreshments will be served. The next project will be at 927 W. Eighth St. For more information or to volunteer, call (209) 723-2671.

Classes on hunter safety

Cha-cha lessons offered

The city of Merced's Recreation Department will offer cha-cha dance classes at 7 p.m. followed by a dance party at 8 p.m. on Thursdays in September, starting Sept. 5. Cost is $16, plus a supply fee of $8. Preregistration is required at 678 W. 18th St., or call (209) 385-6298.

Shelter seeks donations

The D Street Shelter is in need of supplies such as shampoo, conditioner, small bars of soap, deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste and general hygiene items. VFW to dispose of flags

ATWATER — The Atwater Veterans of Foreign Wars post will properly dispose of any U.S. flags that are torn, soiled or tattered. Drop off flags at the post, 1390 Broadway Ave. The VFW also provides wheelchairs and walkers at no charge to veterans in need. For more information, call (209) 358-7224.
