Workshop for small businesses next month

August 19, 2013

— UC Merced will host a workshop next month related to grant funding for small businesses.

UC Merced and the UC Merced Small Business Development Center Regional Network plan the workshop, which is aimed at bringing more research funding into Central California, according to a news release.

The day will focus on the Small Business Innovative Research and Small Business Technology Transfer Programs, two federally funded grant programs for small businesses.

Experts will give tips on using grant funding to advance business research, and how to develop strategies for building a business, the release stated.

The workshop's presenter is Marie Talnack, who has more than 30 years experience in the programs and has worked with funding agencies.

The day's topics include changes in the programs and new funding limits, proposal preparation and team building, budget and reporting requirements, and commercialization strategies and assistance, to name a few.

The workshop will be from noon to 5 p.m. Sept. 24 at UC Merced, in the Garden View Dining Room, 5200 N. Lake Road. Seating is limited. Cost is $35, and includes lunch.

To register, email or call (877) 826-7232.
