MERCED — Portions of Gerard Avenue will be closed through Friday because of street resurfacing work.
The city hired a construction firm to resurface some of Gerard Avenue between N Street and Barroso Avenue.
The work is the second phase of a project to replace the sewer main on Gerard Avenue.
City staff is asking drivers to follow the warning signs, traffic delineators and workers with flags, all of which will direct motorists around the construction. They recommend drivers take an alternate route if possible.
Motorists can expect 10-minute delays in the area of the work.
