Breakfast Lions' 30th

The Merced Breakfast Lions will hold its 30th annual Night Meeting at 6 p.m. today at Yosemite Lake, 5714 N. Lake Road. Tickets are $15 per person and include dinner and drinks. There will be a raffle and dessert auction. Call (209) 769-0159.

Name the new alpaca

Applegate Park Zoo has two new residents, a grey fox named Wizzer and a red alpaca who has yet to be named. To help name the Alpaca, visit the zoo before Sunday and submit the name you like best. If your suggestion is chosen, you will receive recognition at the Recreation and Parks Commission meeting and an annual pass to the zoo. Call (209) 385-6298.

Singers Co. needs girls

Wendy Spencer will direct the 2013-2014 Singers Company season starting Sept. 9. This is a noncompetitive performing group for girls in preschool through sixth grade. Call (209) 722-7897 or go to http://merced.singerscompany.com. Space is limited.

Barbecue and auction

The 23rd annual Bill Kirby Western Barbecue/Auction will take place at 5 p.m. Sept. 10 at Lake Yosemite. Tickets are $40 per person and include dinner and music by Central California Events and Entertainment. Proceeds will benefit the Courthouse Museum programs and the Bill and Tom Kirby Agricultural Scholarships. Call (209) 723-2401.

Class of 1983 reunion

The Merced High School Class of 1983 will host its 30th reunion Oct. 26 at the Merced Golf and Country Club. For more information, email mckeecarm@att.net.
