Police are investigating what they believe is a gang-related shooting.

According to Cmdr. Ray Reyna Jr., a male, 20, was shot twice near Fourth and L streets at about 4:26 p.m.

Police said the victim reported driving in the area when someone in a light-colored minivan shot at his car. The victim told police he saw three young Hispanic males in the minivan. The vehicle was last seen traveling north of Fourth Street along L Street.

The victim drove himself to Memorial Hospital, Los Banos where he was treated for gunshot wounds to his shoulder and chin, police said.

Police said the victim's vehicle had bullet holes in it when it was examined in the hospital parking lot. Officers also located bullet casing near the intersection where the incident occurred. Police learned the victim and suspects were involved in an earlier confrontation in which gang-related comments were exchanged.

The victim has been released from the hospital.
