Margaret Porter: IRS makes excuses, I'd be jailed if I did

August 23, 2013

According to the Huffington Post and The Washington Post, the IRS issued billions of dollars in improper refunds; $46 million went to "unauthorized" workers at one Atlanta address.

My husband and I have worked and paid taxes for over 30 years.

We have yet to receive our refund.

Their reasons? Had to verify identification; that was done in March.

Refund was deleted out of their system. We are fixing our system; that will take another 10 weeks.

The newest and best reason yet: Identity theft within the IRS and have to make a report and investigate. Who knows how long that will take.

If I gave the IRS excuses to why I haven't paid them, I would be in jail and paying interest.
