Go-kart racers to meet

ATWATER — Kids age 5 and up can race go-karts on a dirt oval track on Sept. 1 at 500 Industrial Way. Drivers meeting will be at 9 a.m. Call (408) 489-9432.

Art exhibit planned

The Merced College Art Gallery will open the fall semester with an exhibit of drawing and wire sculpture by Evany Zirul. The exhibit runs through Sept. 5, with a reception for the artist at 6 p.m. today at the Theater Building at Merced College.

Customer service class

Merced College is joining the Greater Merced Chamber of Commerce to offer professional development training through the college's Customer Service Academy on Thursday and Aug. 29 with morning and afternoon sessions at 630 W. 19th St. Workshops cost $23 and participants earn a half unit of college credit. Winter vegetable garden

The Merced Gardens and Nursery will hold a free seminar on winter vegetable gardens at 11 a.m. Saturday. It will be held in their outdoor tent, refreshments will be served and seating is limited. Call (209) 384-0513 to reserve a seat.

Child support meeting

Merced County Child Support Services meets on Thursdays at 5:30 p.m. at 3368 N. Highway 59, Suite 1. Call (209) 381-1329.

Apple Hill bus trip

Merced College Community Services will hold A Day at Apple Hill from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sept. 7. Cost is $75 per person and includes transportation, refreshments, tour and lunch. Call (209) 384-6224 or go to www.mercedcommunityservices.com.
