Flag-raising planned

The Veteran of Foreign Wars of the United States post 2487 and the American Legion post 166 will be displaying the American Flag throughout the city of Los Banos on Labor Day Sept. 2, and on Sept. 11, Patriots' Day. Flags flown on Patriots' Day should be flown at half-mast.

Also taking place on Sept. 11, will be a flag raising ceremony at 8 a.m. at Volta Elementary School. The flag raising ceremony will serve as Volta Elementary School's observance of Patriots' Day.

College week ahead

Los Banos High School will be hosting its first annual college week Sept. 3-6, and will include a college fair from 8:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sept. 4, in the Tiger gym where LBHS students will have access to representatives from various colleges and universities.

Guest speakers from UC Davis and UC Merced will be conducting campus highlights during lunch to provide information on what their campuses have to offer. On Sept. 5, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the multi-purpose building a college information night will be hosted for parents and students to learn more about what each system of higher education has to offer. Representatives from the UC system, CSU system and California Community College will be making presentations. For more information contact Los Banos High School at (209) 826-6033.

ID theft seminar set

Legal Shield will be holding an identity theft seminar Thursday at 7 p.m. at the College Greens Building, 1815 College Greens Drive. The seminar will feature a guest speaker who is an expert in identity protection. The event is free and open to the public.

Bus workshop scheduled

The Bus will hold a workshop Tuesday on changes made to the service and future needs.

The workshops take place at the Los Banos Community Center, 645 Seventh St. at 6 p.m. For those who are unable to attend either workshop, surveys may be picked up from any fixed route bus driver or you can request a survey by calling (209) 723-3100.

Open Cockpit Day on tap Sunday

Castle Air Museum will hold its 2013 Fall Open Cockpit Day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 1 at 5050 Santa Fe Drive in Atwater. For more information, call (209) 723-2178.
