Fall registration to begin for Merced Skimmers

Public invited to discuss transportation update

The Merced County Association of Governments (MCAG) will hold public workshops throughout the region to seek input regarding the Regional Transportation Plan update. Merced to host cha-cha dance classes, parties

The city of Merced's Recreation Department will offer cha-cha dance classes at 7 p.m. followed by a dance party at 8 p.m. on Thursdays in September starting this week. Cost is $16 plus a supply fee of $8. Pre-registration is required at 678 W. 18th St. or call (209) 385-6298.

Barbecue chicken dinner benefits Merced projects

The Boys and Girls Club of Merced will hold a barbecue chicken dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday at 615 W. 15th St. Tickets are $10 per person. The meal includes chicken, beans, salad and a roll. Proceeds will benefit local projects. Call (209) 489-1893.

Junior leadership class accepting applications

Applications will be accepted for the Junior Leadership Merced Class 10 sponsored by the Greater Merced Chamber of Commerce. Applications are available at high school career centers or the chamber website, www.mercedchamber.com. It is open to juniors and seniors. The deadline for applications is Sept. 10.
