Final weekend on stage for epic Les Misérables
Playhouse Merceds production of Boubill and Schonbergs musical Les Misérables has its final run this weekend at Playhouse Merced, 452 W. Main St. The play runs Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $22 for adults, $20 for seniors age 62 and over. Students are $12 with a valid ID. Exploring Merced County
The Merced County Historical Society is scheduled to present Exploring Merced County and Landscape and History of Merced County at 7 p.m. today at the Merced Theatre. Admission is $5 at the door. The Merced Theatre is at 301 W. Main St.
Mikel Soria Jazz Trio
Local guitar virtuoso Mikel Soria and his Jazz Trio are scheduled to perform from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at Vista Winery, 7326 E. Highway 140.
Merceds Got Talent finale
The finale for Merceds Got Talent is scheduled to take place 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. tonight at Valley Community School, 1850 Wardrobe Ave. Admission is $3, and $1 off with a can of food, according to the events Facebook page.
The Local Grind - Refill
A selection of live musicians are scheduled to showcase their talents 7 p.m. Saturday at Coffee Bandits The Local Grind - Refill. Local record label Nyx Records will be on hand to record the event, and audio of the performance will be released on CD. Scheduled performers include Melissa Eisner, Alison Rush, Michael Jon Leonard, Michael Calabrese, Rudy De Leon, Mikel Soria and many others, according to the events Facebook page. Symphony has three shows
The Merced Symphony has three shows that are scheduled through January. The next performance is set for 7:30 p.m. Sept. 21. The performance will be a pops concert: Ellington and Gershwin on Broadway! with vocals from Soprano Jenni Samuelson. A fall concert performance is scheduled for Nov. 2. The scheduled performance will be an Evening with Grieg and Tchaikovsky with world-renowned Tara Kamangar, piano soloist. The symphonys winter concert, Villains and Heroes, is scheduled for Jan. 24.
Terrible Buttons performs

Music festival and barbecue
The John C. Fremont Hospital Foundation will hold the seventh annual Blazin Hog Bar-B-Que Competition and Zydeco Music Festival from noon to 8 p.m. Sept. 21 at the Mariposa Fairgrounds. Individuals, groups and clubs are welcome to compete. First-place prize is $500; second, $250; third, $100. There will be a $100 Peoples Choice award.
