Steven Alvarez found Jashaan Wright in the back of the end zone for a touchdown in overtime and Cesar Tellez kicked the extra point to give the Golden Valley football team a 27-26 win over Turlock on Friday night at Veterans Stadium.
The win snapped the Cougars' (3-4 overall, 1-1 Central California Conference) 14-game conference losing streak.
"Our seniors had never won a league game," Golden Valley head coach Dennis Stubbs said. "Our juniors haven't, either. This was big for us. I really don't know what to say. I'm happy for our kids."

Tellez made good on his second attempt.
The Cougars jumped out to a 13-0 lead in the first half behind a 10-yard touchdown pass from Alvarez to Desmone Borden and a 7-yard touchdown run from Jivyia Evans.
Downs led the Bulldogs (4-3, 0-2) back with a touchdown run a one of his three touchdown passes.
The Cougars then drove 78 yards in the third quarter with Alvarez scoring on a 1-yard sneak to go ahead 20-13.
However, Downs found Jacob Mabie for a touchdown pass to tie the score at 20-all.
That set up the exciting finish in overtime.
"We've been in every game," Stubbs said. "We've been ahead of four of our games at halftime. We were tied at half in one of them. We were only down six to Atwater last week. We just haven't been able to finish."
Golden Valley travels to Atwater to face Buhach Colony next week.
